Fête d’Été – Traverse City

Anne Amie Vineyards, a family owned winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, will once again visit the great state of Michigan this June. Instead of the traditional wine dinner, Thomas Houseman, winemaker and avid cyclist, brings an element of summer fun with a series of progressive winemaker dinners on bicycle called Fête d’ Été (summer party), aptly named for that magical time during the cusp of Summer in the Great Lakes.

In each city, we will travel between 5 restaurants atop bicycles, with the entire dinner party in tow. Each ride, very casual in nature, will encompass no more than 12 total miles round trip. At each restaurant, chefs will pair their dish with one Anne Amie wine. This offers a unique, incredibly joyful experience and a fresh perspective of each city , not to mention it’s great for digestion!. Fête d’ Été dinners have been held in Cleveland, Toledo and Columbus (2012, 2014 & 2016), as well as Detroit, Ann Arbor and Traverse City (2015). It has been embraced by each of the restaurant communities, with everyone working together to bring an amazing energy and enthusiasm to this fun event.

2017 rides will take place in Detroit, Ann Arbor & Traverse City. Each dinner is $89 all-inclusive and includes a Fête d’ Été tour t-shirt. Guests are expected to provide their own bicycle. Event details with participating restaurants will be added soon. We hope you’ll join us!

Vegetarian Wine Dinner @ Aviary

Kick-off New Year resolutions with Aviary’s first-ever four course vegetarian wine dinner featuring creative vegetable preparations from Aviary chef/owner Sarah Pliner. Aviary’s vegetarian wine dinner will be held on Wednesday, January 18th, featuring wine pairings from Anne Amie Vineyards with winemaker Thomas Housemaker pouring the wines and discussing winemaking methods and vineyard sites. Known for applying unexpected culinary techniques to local and exotic ingredients, Aviary’s dinner menu has always featured numerous creatively composed vegetarian options, something personally important to chef Pliner. Pliner, who was once herself vegetarian, recalls the incredibly limited options in many restaurants and has intentionally created interesting and complex plant-based dishes for her guests, she even established a vegetarian tasting menu, available daily at the restaurant. Chef Sarah’s cuisine will be thoughtfully coupled with wines from Anne Amie, the Yamhill-Carlton based winery which focuses primarily on producing Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc.

MENU

First Course
Japanese Eggplant, tomato miso, aji amarillo, dill

Second Course
Silken Tofu, butternut squash, persimmon, treviso, hot bean paste, pomegranate, nori vinaigrette

Third Course
Artichoke & Quince Tart, sunchoke, slow poached egg, nettles, black trumpets, pasilla de oaxaca

Dessert
TBD
